Days 7 and 8

I got to spend some time up at Husum Highlands B&B again meeting with some brides and taking some pictures, so I had some fun doing my day 7 and 8 imagesin between waiting for potential brides and photographing grounds and inside the B&B.

Day 7 was gift. Of course since it's Christmas I could have done a package present but really, what better gift was there ever than when baby Jesus was born?

And Day 8 was Book. I was feeling in the macro spirit after having photographed the ceramic nativity scene and later stumbled upon an even smaller scale Christmas Town, then low and behold, some carolers had books in their hands! So books it is!

Curing the December Photography Blah's

My absolutely fabulous friend Alyse, who operates Photography By Alyse, posted a Photography challenge for December. Now, being so far away from her, I thought it might be something fun for me to do this month to feel like we're doing together. Plus, right now I'm working with a new Client, The Whole Ball of Yarn, and I'm pretty sure you don't want to see 1500 different yarn, knitting and crochet samples. So, to save you from that I'm going to be posting my daily challenges here and on Facebook. Here is the month's schedule...

I missed the first couple of days, so I'm picking up with yesterday's photo... Together.

ELITE Children's Magazine

We've been getting a LOT of work with Elite Children lately, but I've got to say the most fun shoot was when we were booked to do the fashion-zombie Halloween spread. Doing the hair, makeup and wardrobe for this, and getting to work with the girls was a blast! I've been anxiously sitting on these images for almost a month now, so I'm VERY excited to get to share them with you on this grey-foggy Halloween day. Happy Halloween everyone!

Lots of updates coming your way!

It's certainly been a busy few months over here! Let me start by posting some of the images from the amazing L'Attrait Salon. They were among the top 4 nominees for the Portland Fashion & Style Awards earlier this month. I got to work with them on a concept shoot for their poster. It was a little out of my normal editing zone but it was still a SUPER fun shoot! The model in the chair was supposed to be plastic and doll like, and of course I managed to snap a couple more model-esque shots for myself in there. Here were some of our favorites, starting with my personal favorite:

This one and the next were supposed to be the most plastic like on the model, and that is the actual hair stylist with her.

I believe this is the one they used for the poster...

I've got TONS more shoots to share but some haven't been cleared through the magazines they are scheduled for print in, but count on lots of pictures in the next month or so.

The Fabulous Baby A.

A huge thanks to little baby A. for helping out with modeling some fun photography props. We had some fun playing in boxes, chewing on jewelry, and apparently even thought the boxes were pretty enough to eat! Guess they are officially baby approved ;) Anywhoo, here is the fabulous Miss A. showing off some fun photography props. And of course, if you see something you like, head on over to Picture Perfect-Photography Props and More, to purchase the baby hatbox of your choice. They are great for babies age appx 6-12 months!

Designer Clothing at the Historic Columbia Gorge Hotel

I had the opportunity to work with Couture Prototype Madriaga this past week. They are a fairly new company out of San Diego, CA, that re-sells and rents high end fashion pieces. They sent me five different pieces of clothing to photograph, which included some Valentino, Christian Dior, Betsy Johnson, Gucci, and other fun articles amongst bags, jewelry and clothing.

One of my jobs, after receiving these amazing pieces of clothing, was to find an equally amazing location to photograph these pieces. After scouting out several locations, I arrived at the magnificent Columbia Gorge Hotel. Built in 1904 by Bobby Rand, and originally named the Wah Gwin Gwin Hotel (a Native American name meaning "rushing water" for the 208' waterfall on the grounds), and later fully restored to it's current luxurious state, the Columbia Gorge Hotel was truly a sight to behold. Located in Hood River, Oregon, it sits nestled atop the Columbia River. It's beautifully landscaped grounds include manicured gardens, native flowers, wooden and stone walkways, bridges and terraces, as well as the stream leading to the 208' waterfall and stunning view of the river. Once I walked the grounds and interior of this historic property, I knew this was the place I had to shoot!

With the help of Kailin C. on lighting, and the fabulous modeling talent of Morgan L., we were able to capture some great images.

Restoring Old Photos

The last couple days I've been scanning and restoring old photos I took and had portrait prints made of. Lets reminisce a little, shall we??
