Last week I got to tour a facility in Portland, where I will be doing all the photography for their website images. They manufacture and market ultra high-purity photoresists and auxiliary chemicals used in the fabrication of integrated circuits... which meant I toured the facility in full on white clean suit (that I thought made me look like an oompa-loompa), hair net, booties, safety glasses, and even in one room a full on lab coat and sterile gloves as well! Amidst the guided tour we had a fun discussion on all the wonderfully horrible and painful ways I could die if anything went wrong while inside the facility. I'm thinking I should have included hazard pay into my price, lol! anyway, that fun new project should be starting up in a couple of weeks here and I'm definitely excited to complete it.
I took on and completed my first actual children's coloring/storybook illustration job. It was a fun project but I'm also kind of glad I had the opportunity to say the first one was enough for me. Maybe another time with a different author... or even my own... hmm, things to think on!
Then I had the opportunity to meet with my local Chamber of Commerce and became an official member. I'm hoping to bring in some new business for weddings and move my business back more towards those. I was also able to do headshots for some clients, camp cowabunga for the local school, and my favorite of all my most recent activities, a wedding up at the beautiful Husum Highlands Bed & Breakfast, whom I've also just partnered up with to provide an all inclusive destination/small wedding package! It was my first wedding in this new area and I couldn't have been happier with the location, the couple, or with the final images! I also had the opportunity to make the wedding cake... something I haven't done for a couple of years. Not only did it come out looking pretty but it was pretty dang tasty too! Here are some of my favorites from the day.
Also, anyone interested in a last minute 2013 wedding photography package, I've got some dates open in August-November and I may be coming up with a half year special for anyone that books their 2013/2014 wedding in the month of July. the best part about that is that when you book and pay your deposit, it locks in your price so if prices go up for packages, your price remains the same and you still get whatever the discount will be. Can't beat a deal like that, so keep an eye open on the blog and on Facebook (like the page if you haven't already) and watch for specials and discounts!
