Then just a couple weeks later I was introduced to an amazing venue, The Empress Estate, up in Woodland, Washington, about 25 minutes north of the Portland/Vancouver area. What a gorgeous location! I've recently partnered up with them as a preferred photographer and am eagerly awaiting my next wedding up there, this coming Sunday! I'm sure there will be pictures galore to be shared! In the meantime though, here are just a few from the big day with the Cross Family:

Cross Engagements and Wedding!
I had the pleasure of working with a fantastic couple on their engagement and wedding photos. We went up to the Husum Highlands B&B for their engagements, an old favorite of mine! Here are a few from the session:

A Sunny Winter's Day!
Lately up here, we've had a whole lot of blah- not really a lot of rain and even less snow! I had a fantastic family contact me several months ago wanting their family portraits done in the snow. After waiting around for almost three months, we finally went ahead and picked a day for pictures, hoping for snow but prepared for more of the blahs. While we didn't have any snow for our shoot, we were pleasantly surprised by a beautiful, dry, sunny day!
I had so much fun with these spirited little girls and their lovey-dovey puppy dog who tried oh-so hard to get into all the pictures! I felt kind of bad because after all the waiting, two days after our session, it snowed for almost a week straight! Talk about tough luck, but either way it was a fun day and I'm happy with what we ended up with on our sunny winter's day. Here's just a few of our favorites:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays To One and All!
Boy has it been a busy year here in Washington! I can't believe it's been almost 4 months since I last updated my poor little blog. I think maybe it's time to get some one to blog updates for me. We've definitely been busy here, both with our personal lives and with the photography business. I got to work with some absolutely adorable babies, beautiful brides, rambunctious little kids, and some fun families!
The transition of moving an entire business to a new state and having to start over basically from scratch has been a daunting but rewarding task. This year, while trying to built a new clientele, I've made some very dear new friends and made several new business connections.
So, what have I been up to these last few months? Here are a few composites and favorite pictures from my most recent adventures:

One of the fun families-
And another family with some fun big brothers!
The last local wedding of the year
And another classic county wedding cake order
Then a fun trip back to Utah for some very special clients ;)
Some birthday's
And lots of cuddly babies!!
Not to mention I finally got around to doing our own family photos- NOT a small feat. Let me tell ya, I love my little family, but I'd much rather be out there photographing YOUR family any day :)
I'm so very excited to see what next year has in store for us! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday's from our family to yours! ~Derico Photography

A Timeless Wedding
Some weddings are Retro or Vintage, some are Classic, and some are just downright fun. The best word I can think to describe this wedding was Timeless. I don't often do B&W conversions on images because I think it takes a VERY special image to make a great B&W... well, One of the images from this wedding made it to my list of favorites. And the food... holy YUMM!!! Catered by the amazing Taste of the Gorge Restaurant, and hosted at the ever amazing Husum Highlands Bed & Breakfast. Just wow! Here are a few from the day, starting with my favorite:

A beautiful couple and their well trained puppy!
I had the opportunity, yet again, to help out up at the beautiful Husum Highlands for a wedding. This was a medium sized wedding with some fun flair! Kelsey and Scott were just plain-old fun to be around. Their VW Bug housed the wedding gifts, while tables containing beautiful large glass containers full of different candy shop treats, and their extraordinarily well behave dog roamed the grounds sporting a colorful bandanna to match the rest of the bridal party. Thanks to them for letting me share in their special day!
